1. What is the application procedure for an international student?
Student submits application form with USD165 for study together with relevant documents to the nearest agent which has the official approval from The Otomotif College to recruit international students. Student's application is accepted by TOC which will then help to apply for student pass at the Malaysian Immigration Department in Malaysia (except for students from the PRC). For further details, you may refer to the Admission Guide under Enrolment. Just follow the 6 steps.
 
2. What about Airport Pickup?
The Student Service runs a Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) pickup service for all new International students with approved Student Pass. All new International students who are coming to TOC for the first time and who pass through the Malaysian Immigration Checkpoint at KLIA will need the assistance of a TOC's staff. Please inform the college 5 working days in advance for such service. This service is not available to students coming in on tourist pass.
 
3. How long does it take to process the visa documents ?
Approximately 8-10 weeks (longer during peak periods).
 
4. As a graduate of TOC, what are my career options?

5. What do I need to have in order to excel in the Diploma course?
  • Your passion and interest in automotive technology
  • Different programmes have different minimum English language proficiency requirements. Please refer to respective programme's minimum IELTS or TOEFL score. However, if you do not meet this requirement, you will be able to attend TOC's Intensive English Programme before commencing normal academic programmes.
6. What happens if I am not proficient in English?
TOC provides extra English lessons for candidates with the interest and right attitude but lacking in English proficiency.
 
7. What is unique about TOC's diploma programme?

8. What is Supervised Industrial Training (SIT) and do trainees secure their own SIT placements?
Supervised industrial training or commonly known as 'industrial practice' is part of the training where trainees will be assigned to nominated service centres to work as a trainee apprentice. This arrangement provides valuable opportunity for the trainees to be exposed to real-world situations and work on actual customers' vehicles. TOC undertakes the task of securing SIT venues for all its trainees.
 

9. What is the advantage of the TOC qualification?

10. Do I stop learning after graduating from TOC?
No. At TOC, we promote life-long learning. You are encouraged to attend professional and upgrading courses at least twice yearly in the future to continuously enrich your knowledge and skills.
 
11. Does TOC provide hostel?
TOC does not offer hostel facilities but we can assist students in securing accommodation nearby the college. Our trainees are usually housed in hostel apartments, condominiums or terrace houses on a sharing basis. The rental rates range between RM250 to RM500 per month depending on the type of accommodation.
 
12. Can I further my studies to degree level with TOC's diploma?
Yes. If you have a Diploma in Automotive Technology, you can further your studies to degree level at various universities in overseas like UNITEC of New Zealand, University of Hertfordshire, University of Wolverhampton and West Nottinghamshire College of UK, Edith Cowen University of Australia.
 
13. How much money should I bring with me?
You should bring with you enough money to pay for your first-year tuition, student bond and living expenses. This should be in the form of traveler's cheques, cash, and/or bank draft. A bank account can be opened after your arrival.
 
14. Do I need a car while studying at TOC's?
If you're staying nearby the college, you probably do not need a car. Public transportation (buses, taxis, commuter train, etc.) is very affordable and easily available.
 
15. How do I find out the public transportation schedule?
Schedules may be obtained from the Student Services Office. They may also be obtained at the bus line office or commuter stations.
